Deruta

Works that disappear, the working of clay in Deruta, PG - Italy

Deruta

Giorgio Buco, clay artist

In Deruta, in the heart of Umbria, there are still those who, like the master Giorgio Buco, keep alive old professionalism, history and traditions of the territory. Since ancient times, thanks to the particular conformation of the land, this area was exploited for the extraction and processing of clay to obtain everyday objects, tools, pottery and decorations for buildings.

In Giorgio Buco’s laboratory one still lives and breathes passion and tradition with the hope that some young people will learn and perpetuate its secrets.

The master’s engraving and sculptural skills are then enhanced by the refined and precise decorations of expert hands who enliven the objects with characteristic colors and designs.
